Fun Facts • Batavia Depot Museum, a railroad and war history museum, includes a caboose from the Chicago, Burlington and Quincy Railroad that was retired from service in 1974. • The Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory is the home of the world's most powerful particle accelerator. The laboratory is named in honor of Enrico Fermi, a physicist who won the 1938 Nobel Prize. • Red Oak Nature Center is nestled on the east bank of the Fox River on 40 acres of woods. An onsite museum displays information on animals and plants native to the Fox River Valley.
