Fun Facts
• The Billy Graham Center Museum, located on College Avenue on the campus of
Wheaton College is dedicated to the history of Christian Evangelism.
• Wheaton is named for early settler Warren Wheaton. The city was then incorporated
in 1859 with Warren serving as its first president.
• In 1873, Charles M. Barnes set up a small book shop in his home as a part of his printshop.
When Barnes’ son William partnered with G. Clifford Noble in 1917, Barnes and Noble was born. Today the chain has stores in all fifty states, including one in Wheaton’s Towne Square.
